10 Signs You're an Intuitive Personality Type

Clinically Reviewed bySteven Melendy, PsyD.on February 01, 2023

The world can be a beautiful and slightly overwhelming place for an Intuitive person. Sure, we may not go around looking at a crystal ball or reading fortunes in coffee cups, but we’re always collecting and processing data from our surroundings, and that can look a lot like "magic" from an outside perspective. Though everyone has a sixth sense ability within them, Intuitives tend to be much more in tune with their instincts.

If you identify with some of the traits below, chances are you’re an Intuitive type.

1. You leap to an answer and haven't got a clue how you got there

Everyone makes connections with the data they collect, but Intuitives do it all behind the scenes without noticing they're doing it. To others, it looks like you came up with answers out of the blue. In reality, you just picked up on ideas you already had stored in your mind that gave you the "aha" moment.

2. You see through people's BS

Intuitives tend to pick up on signals from people’s words, body language and energy that others may miss. You don't necessarily remember tiny details about a person, but you can see through someone’s facade. This means you might be drawn to a person without a plausible explanation, or you might sense a red flag without being able to pinpoint what’s making you uncomfortable. For Intuitives, when you know, you know.

3. Seasons change and so do you

Intuitives can find symbolism and metaphor in nearly everything – nature included. To put it simply, when a Sensor looks at a flower they’ll see a flower, and maybe give you a concrete description of it. As an Intuitive, however, you may see fragility and resilience or the cycle of life in the same flower. This can be a great asset when it comes to seeing things from an artistic and creative perspective, but it can be overwhelming at times, too.

4. You fall down rabbit holes when researching a topic

You try to stay at surface level and just get the quick answer you need, but...you're an Intuitive. If you've ever fallen down a Wikipedia rabbit hole with zero chance of escape, I feel you. It’s not that Intuitives are scattered brains, we’re just abstract thinkers by nature. This means we’re happy pondering different possibilities and outcomes for the most mundane situations. Bottom line? If a Google search for a cookie recipe ends up with a linguistic analysis of the word biscotto and enrolling in an Italian language class, you’re probably an Intuitive. #Intuitivestruggles

5. You come up with imaginary situations to make sense of the present

Nothing hurts an Intuitive brain like someone telling us there’s only one way to look at a problem. Hard facts are essential to our understanding of the world, for sure. But if you’re an Intuitive type, you contextualize those facts using imaginary situations to make sense of a messy present. The truth is, Intuitives are interested in knowing the "why" of things. This can leave some Sensors feeling impatient, but that’s how the Intuitive brain works. When struggling to make a decision, for example, you'll analyze the situation from every possible angle, weigh the pros and cons, live as if you had said "yes," then live as if you had said "no" before zooming in on a solution.

6. You’re often daydreaming, planning and/or panicking about the future

Intuitives live in the future most of the time – whether that's daydreaming about your ideal life or thinking about projects you’d like to accomplish. Some Intuitives are more pragmatic and turn their dreams into goals, whilst others get lost in a world of pure imagination. If you’reprone to anxiety, know that your future-oriented mind can lead you to panic about your to-do list. When anxiety hits, remember to ground yourself in the present moment.

7. You exhaust yourself by overanalyzing people’s moods and body language

尤其如此Intuitive Feelingtypes, but all Intuitives absorb the energy of those around them to some degree, sometimes without even noticing. Because of this, you end up overthinking things and either taking too much responsibility for other people’s emotions or feeling the need to fix them. Don't forget that you don't have to carry people's burdens for them. Take care to schedule some time for yourself, so you can unplug your overactive brain if it gets to be too much.

8. You know you’re right and no one can prove otherwise

When your intuition comes through and you have a strong hunch about something, no one can convince you that you’re wrong. Not even science. Still, sometimesIntuitives can second-guess their instinctsand get stuck in a multitude of "what if" scenarios. If that happens to you often, remember that the more you think about something, the less clear the solution will look.

9. Inspiration is your drive and your worst enemy

Few things are as catastrophic to an Intuitive type as when you lose yourmojo. That's because, for you, inspiration is a drive. You feel energized when you have a concrete goal you can work towards, but you need to feel inspired to persevere. The downside is that inspiration can be an elusive concept – it can come and go as it pleases. You can get it from music, a movie or even the most random conversation, but you need to accept that creative blocks and motivation dips are part of the journey. When you lose your muse, don’t despair – know that it will come back. And find something smaller and achievable to work on in the meantime.

10. You can be selective about who you let into your life

No matter if you’re anIntrovert or an Extravert,as an Intuitive-dominant type, you can be selective about the people you let into your inner circle. Intuitives love to engage in intellectual conversations with like-minded peers, and you can also be very picky when it comes to forming deep connections with others. You might feel more comfortable talking to a stranger you just click with than someone you've known for a while, and you don’t need to explain why. Given the choice, Intuitives would choose quality conversation over routine chit-chat any day of the week. That’s ultimately what it means to be an Intuitive: experiencing things that are new and different, trusting your intuition and exploring the unknown.

There’s so much truth in this post a complete observational comedy routine could be made with it. Was that an intuitive observation?

谢谢你!It all resonates with me. So accurate that I find myself thinking how could someone possibly understand intuitive reasoning without knowing the actual person that is an intuitive.

Yup! Definitely an intuitive person!
