IT Architect (not verified)says...

I think that some of these INTPs are being ISTJs, too picky about details. The shoe-tying is just an example of a lack of focus on mundane specifics. The same as the wild, academic thoughts can actually manifest as a 'big picture' focus. I was in IT (and for my whole life thought I was lazy), but took the advanced instrument and found out that I have a real strong element of procrastination, i.e., not laziness; and logically, it doesn't make sense to take 5 trips with 2 items, so I take 2 trips with 5 items (my mother's lazy-man's load). If you're reallyy an INTP, you don't care about shoe-tying analogies, you cre about the concept of being lazy or not socially correct, vs. HOW you are those things. Leave tjhe 'how' to the ISTJs. And fo the person who said about being a mixture -- she is, of course, correct, but when I first found out about MBTI, the INTP definiteion was exactly me, and I was almost all of the way to the 'T', thus explaining why I am the worst at 'reading' people. Figure out how the concepts apply to your preferences and likes/dislikes and work on that -- there is certainly no 'E' preferences iin these descriptions, just information about how to get along. I was a data modeler/facilitator fo 35 years in IT and had found the most applicable job for me: big picture relationships between 'business' entity types, requiring detailed descriptions and analysis of the relationships . . . just another viewpoint . . .
