The things you say in this article are so relatable it's scary! As the new guy in the office for a large corporation I am struggling to make my presence felt. I like being busy but at the same time it needs to be productive. I see so much inefficiency and I know everyone see its as well but no-one wants to make any changes. It's frustrating to be kept busy all day doing work of no real value just so your manager can report to their manager that their resources are being utilised. In fact, it makes me sick. Especially with the money some of these people are making. I have built up technical knowledge over the past few months but I know from looking at the hierarchy that I can never progress to the next level. The way you have to behave as a manager is something that is just not in me. But after a certain age, I know I cannot see myself running around for someone else. For me, with my background, I will always be in white collar work. But I guess I must move companies every now and then until I find a smaller business in which I specialise in something and earn the respect of my colleagues. That's my plan for now. They say you should leavr your comfort zone every now and then, well entering the corporate world is more than enough for me! Finally, I don't ever actually dream of leading a company as a CEO anyway. Yes, I would like to be higher up and have more power but maybe there is a limit for everyone?
