So true. You try to improve their pointless idiotic wasteful system and they refuse to even consider it. I have plenty of goood reasons why I do things the way I do, but since it "doesn't look nice" my ideas are shut down almost instantly. I decided long ago that I refuse to teach underlings or supervisors any of my methods that may actually help them (so I just create my own system on my own hard drive). It's pointless and stupid because it makes about ten times more work for me, but it is better than actually letting someone steal my ideas.
Like you said, I don't want to be the boss. I do things for one reason only. MONEY! And, I am essentially lazy and am only interested in devising the simplest and shortest path to that money. If these people would STFU and let me do things my way, they might find they need fewer people around and it would save them more money.
