Indeed, much of what we think of God comes from the imagery we have created of Him, but that is meant to be understood symbolically, as a way to conceptualize the invisible.

In the same way, our bodies, as well as our souls, are made in the image and likeness of God, but not literally. Our creation as male or female reflects aspects of the divine nature; in our corporality we interact and relate to others in the flesh. But again, God doesn't have a nose or a mouth, but He breathes the Spirit and speaks the Word.
