Dating apps are a big industry and, with over 250 million people searching for love online, it’s a common way to look for a partner. But for every fairytale date, you’ll hear a horror story of a meeting gone wrong so it pays to be a bit discerning. When finding a partner, not all personalities seek to connect the same way, and with dozens of dating apps, it can be hard to know which to choose.

Using theEnneagramas your guide, you can focus your search to make the experience better. Below we offer the best dating apps, based on your Enneagram type.

Type 1 Perfectionist: Coffee Meets Bagel

You, our efficient Type 1, don’t want to waste a lot of time on meaningless dates in your search for love. With a tagline of “Meet Better People. Go on Better Dates” Coffee Meets Bagel is practically designed for you. Described as the original anti-swipe dating app, this company was founded by three sisters in 2012 with the mission to “create meaningful connections that spark hearts and inspire people to share themselves authentically and enthusiastically.” Every day at noon, you’ll receive quality matches curated just for you by the app’s ever-evolving algorithm. Why not give it a go?

Type 2, Giver:Hinge

You don’t like the idea of dating apps, our helpful Type 2, because you’d prefer to go straight into a relationship and that’s why Hinge, with a tagline of “Designed to be Deleted” is perfect for you. Founded in 2012, Hinge bills itself as a dating app that emphasizes long term connections between users. You’ll like the way Hinge helps you create an engaging and descriptive profile. And you will appreciate how you can share things ranging from your alcohol consumption habits and your long term thoughts on having children. Try Hinge for a fast-track to a LTR.

Type 3, Achiever: Tinder

You care about image, our achieving Type 3, so finding someone who looks good is important, and Tinder is here to help. No need to waste your time on text exchanges with someone who doesn’t meet your aesthetic criteria, you can just swipe left. Founded in 2012, Tinder is one of the more popular dating apps you’ll find with a user base of over 6 million. With an emphasis on photos and less attention to the person’s other characteristics, critics may complain it is a shallow way to approach relationships, but you don’t see it that way. You see it as efficient. Why waste time on someone you aren’t attracted to?

Type 4, Individualist: OKCupid

You don’t want to deal with a mainstream user base, our individualist Type 4, so you’ll probably like the counterculture vibe of OKCupid. Founded in 2004, this app has evolved, and these days it's where you’ll find the bohemians, free spirits, the fringe element, and the unusual lifestyle folks. With a robust set of options to describe everything including sexual orientations and gender identities, it works like a traditional dating app but offers a more unconventional community. Chances are you will feel right at home here...

Type 5, Investigator: Kippo

You will be amazed to learn, our investigative Type 5, that there is a dating app for gamers. Founded in 2019 Kippo’s tagline promises to “Match you based on your favorite games and more.” Described as a safe and welcoming community that facilitates meaningful connections and interactions through the love of games, finally you’ve found a way to connect with your tribe without all the awkwardness of regular first dates. Every match might not be made in heaven, but at least you’ll know some of the fundamentals are there. And if you are a Type 5 who isn’t into gaming, at least Kippo shows there are apps that match based on shared interests. With dozens of dating apps out there, with a little research, you can probably find one based on your passion, too.

Type 6, Skeptic: eHarmony

You are cautious, our skeptical Type 6, so a dating app that goes slowly and carefully discloses limited information is right up your alley. Founded in 2000 in California, eHarmony requires a lengthy registration process, and its matching algorithm searches for pairings based on commonality. Information is metered out so the process is slow and deliberate. No need to rush into things and with this measured approach, the chance of accidentally dating a pathological liar or a psychopath is much lower. Online dating still poses risks, but eHarmony makes it a bit safer.

Type 7, Enthusiast: Fairytrail

You love an adventure, our fun-loving Type 7, so Fairytrail is the dating app for you. With a tagline of “Meet on fun adventures,” this application was developed to be location independent and encourages adventure travel as part of the dating experience. Founded in 2018, remote workers and digital nomads are the target audience, and the ideal first date is a travel adventure together. We know you love to plan, so sign up for Fairytrail and wrap a bit of travel into your next dating experience.

Type 8, Challenger:Bumble

You, our take-charge Type 8, like to be in control so you are going to appreciate a dating app where the woman messages first, and the man has just 24 hours to reply. Founded in 2004 by Whitney Wolfe Herd (who has gone on to be the world's youngest female self-made billionaire) there is no ambiguity about the rules of engagement on Bumble. It is almost as though a dating app was created with you in mind. Insecure men are eliminated due to their procrastination which leaves you with a smaller pool of more confident suitors. Type 8 women - finally you feel like the hunter instead of the prey. And Type 8 men - you’ll enjoy a rare opportunity to surrender.

Type 9, Peacemaker: Match.com

你是如此随和可亲,accommodating Type 9, you could make almost any dating app work for you. Since you’re happy to go with the flow, why not pick one of the longest running apps with one of the biggest user bases in the dating world? Match.com, founded in 1995, is the old kid on the block and with over 10 million users it’s a safe bet you’ll find a few quality people here. Match.com even offers singles activities if you want to try a group approach to finding dates.

The game of love is a funny one. You never know when you’ll get lucky, and dating can be both exhilarating and disheartening. If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on dating, why not try a dating app suited to your Enneagram type? By finding an app that speaks to your personality, you’ll likely feel more relaxed and open to the experience.

So this is going to help you meet people of the same time. Whilst opposites attract is a cliche surely there needs to be soemoverlap between types and dating machines?

Type 8 person (not verified)says...

作为一个类型8,我真的不能同意with Bumble as the app of choice. Bumble is the literal W O R S T for me.
I far prefer having an unlimited inbox filled with suitors of all types that I can reject at will. For me to have to put myself out there, making the first move, sounds AWFUL. Woo me first. I'll respond in my own time, if it suits me. No way am I going to express interest to someone I haven't even gotten a message from...?? Also- don't you dare give me a 24-hour time limit to respond. I'll reply when I'm good and ready.
